Donald Hamilton is the Managing Director of CMI Concord Group Europe Limited. While he primarily is focussed on CMI Concord’s business in Europe, Mr. Hamilton provides training, advisory, coaching and mediation services across a broad range of industries to individuals, corporations, government departments, and NGO entities worldwide.
Mr. Hamilton has worked extensively in Europe and North America. In Europe, he has worked in all major countries and with clients in the financial services, communications & high tech, healthcare, utilities, oil & gas, retail, automotive, travel & transport, professional service and manufacturing industries, as well as with a number of government departments. In North America he has worked with clients in manufacturing, telecoms, travel & transport, logistics and chemicals, and lived in Chicago for two years, working primarily with financial services and healthcare clients.
Before joining CMI Concord, Mr. Hamilton served sixteen years in a number of senior executive positions within the Legal Group at Accenture. His most recent roles were as the Legal Director for Northern Europe and the Legal Director for Accenture’s Management Consulting business worldwide.
Mr Hamilton’s many achievements include the negotiation of a multi-tower business process outsourcing arrangement with two major oil companies across eleven countries in Europe, consolidating back office operations from each of these countries into a central shared services center; the insourcing of a business critical IT capability to a major New York clearing house; a logistics joint venture with a major UK utility; the design, build, and run of a major country-wide computer system for one of the key UK government departments; and the settlement of a significant dispute with a major telecoms company.
Mr. Hamilton’s interest in the field of negotiation was sparked during his time at Accenture. He was trained and mentored in the principles and skills of the Harvard Negotiation Project by Paul Cramer, a founding partner of CMI Concord. Mr. Hamilton used the Harvard Negotiation Project training extensively in the negotiation of complex outsourcing, systems integration and management consulting arrangements, and the settlement of complex, high value disputes. Mr Hamilton also was a member of the faculty panel for Accenture’s Negotiations Center of Excellence, delivering negotiations training to Accenture’ Senior Executives.
Mr. Hamilton is qualified as a solicitor in Scotland and England. Before joining Accenture, he spent more than ten years as a lawyer in private practice, specialising in M&A and other corporate work, first in his native city of Glasgow, Scotland and then in the City of London. He also has spent time as a water sports instructor in the Greek Islands and has travelled extensively, including a six and a half month journey around the world with his family. Mr. Hamilton is based just outside of London where he resides with his wife and two children.
